• Designed with efficiency, sustainability and integration into the urban landscape, these buildings will be located in Gran Canaria and Tenerife.

ACCIONA´s joint venture has begun construction work on the twin buildings that will house the Canary Islands Government’s essential services. One will be located in Gran Canaria, in the municipality of Telde, and the other in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Both will be for administrative use and will include services such as the Canary Islands Emergency Coordination Center 112 or 012, as well as all those that operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Data Protection Centre, Corporate Security, Programmed Health Transport and Social Tele-assistance will also be installed there.

Other services such as the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES), the Fire and Sea Rescue, the General Corps of the Canary Islands Police, Local and National Police, Civil Guard, Private Security and Property Security, among others, will also be located there.

These twin buildings, strategically located in the territory, have high technological performance and meet strict sustainability criteria in the face of climate change. The purpose of their construction is to provide “double security” in the event of an extraordinary emergency or crisis situation, such as seismic or volcanic activity or adverse meteorological phenomena.

Both buildings, called Essential Service Buildings (ESE), are world firsts in public safety and emergency management and are financed with European funds.

The foundation stone ceremony for the construction of the Gran Canaria building was attended by Fernando Clavijo, president of the Government of the Canary Islands, accompanied by the minister of Finance and Relations with the European Union of the Government of the Canary Islands, Matilde Asián; the mayor of Telde, Juan Antonio Peña, the architect of the building, Fernando Menis, and the technical architect of the Government of the Canary Islands, Félix Morales, among others.
